The Tamar River & Bridge

The Tamar River & Bridge

Our latest Ebay purchase, an Enterprise Class sailing dingy. located in Saltash, Cornwall. Glen, Lex and I travelled down on the Friday night and stayed at the Crooked Inn, just outside Saltash. The very best B&B that I have ever stayed in, happy to make sanwiches at 11.15pm when we arrived, with the obligatory couple of pints. Very pet friendly and excellent food, wish we could have stayed longer!

Up at 7am to walk Lex, the Crooked Inn is set in a good few acres, best tree house I have seen for kids, play area, horses, pig, the lot. Quick shower and breakfast which was excellent.

Picked up the boat just after 9am. Had a quick lesson in how to out up the sails etc and off to the free launching area in Saltash that is almost under the Tamar Bridge.

There was quite a tide was running and we almost called it a day without even launching, but we through caution to the wind and off we went. The 1st half hour was an adrenalin rush to say the least. We headed upriver for a couple or hours before turning back, take a look at the pics to see some of he views on the way.

Called it a day around 3.30pm, headed back for home. Stopped at an excellent restaurant and eat a great meal while watching the Maurice Dancers.

As we left the day took a turn for the worse, an unexpected collision between car door and thumb led to us visiting 3 hospitals and a minor operation under local anesthetic, must be more careful next time!
